Key Points:

* Eloy Jiménez suffered a torn hamstring in March. * Jiménez played in 5 games for Charlotte Knights in rehab stint. * Jiménez is expected to bat cleanup for Chicago.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez is set to return to the lineup Tuesday, May 24th, after missing the first month of the season due to a torn hamstring.

Manager Tony La Russa announced Sunday that Jiménez, who began a rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights on May 14th, will be activated from the injured list ahead of the White Sox' three-game series opener against the Kansas City Royals.

"We're looking forward to it," La Russa said. "He's done everything he needed to do, and he's ready to go."

Jiménez had been sidelined since March 25th, when he suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain while running the bases in a spring training game. He played in five rehab games for Charlotte, going 5-for-16 with a double, two home runs, and three RBI.

The White Sox have been without their starting right fielder and designated hitter for the first 40 games of the season, but they have managed to stay afloat with an 18-22 record, tied for third place in the AL Central.

Jiménez is expected to bat cleanup for Chicago on Tuesday.
