Jrue Holiday agrees to 135 million extension
Celtics lock up point guard through 2025-26
Holiday was acquired from the Bucks in a trade for Damian Lillard
The Boston Celtics and guard Jrue Holiday have agreed on a four-year 135 million contract extension, his agent Jason Glushon told ESPNs Adrian Wojnarowski.
Holiday, 31, was acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks in a blockbuster offseason trade that sent Damian Lillard to the Bucks. He has been a key part of the Celtics' success this season, averaging 16.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.
The extension will keep Holiday in Boston through the 2025-26 season. It is a significant investment by the Celtics, but it is one that they believe is worth it. Holiday is a proven All-Star and one of the best point guards in the league.
With Holiday under contract for the long term, the Celtics now have a solid foundation to build on. They have a young core of players, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and they have a veteran leader in Holiday. The Celtics are one of the favorites to win the NBA championship this season, and Holiday's extension only increases their chances.
